Morris County School of Technology Students Capture 41 Medals
during NJ SkillsUSA

Denville, NJ (5/15/09) – Students from the Morris County School of Technology won 41 medals during the NJ SkillsUSA State Championship Competition, which was held on May 8th in Somerset. The school sent 83 high school students to the event, which was a showcase for career and technical education students across the state.
During the competition, students worked against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations like electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts. All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, and test competencies are set by industry.
Gold Medals were awarded to Alexa Laoudis, Esthetics; Vincent Simonetti, Computer Programming; Joseph Scharppa, Building Maintenance; Mason Lozano, Commercial Baking; Karen Adrada, Catherine Cuevas, Kristie Dungan, Samantha Hooper, Clare Pellegrini, Brittany Reddin, Heather Zipko, Opening and Closing Ceremonies; Alex Class and Charles Stevens, Television (video) production; Dan Odomirok and Dan Pise, Video Production Development; Xiomara Muniz, Aida Rodguez and Amber Williams, Tech Prep; Ryan Szivassy, Basic Construction; Jennifer Lucca, Food Service; and Daniel Bishop, Brian Cooper, Sawan Patel, and Giuseppe Sorisi, Team Skills Demo.
The following gold medal winners will go on to represent Morris County School of Technology at the SkillsUSA National Competition held in Kansas City, MO the last week of June: Alexa Laoudis, Vincent Simonetti, Joseph Scharppa, Mason Lozano, Karen Adrada, Catherine Cuevas, Kristie Dungan, Samantha Hooper, Clare Pellegrini, Brittany Reddin, Heather Zipko, Alex Class, Charles Stevens, Dan Odomirok, Dan Pise, Xiomara Muniz, Aida Rodguez and Amber Williams.
Silver medals were awarded to Matthew Kobza, Employment Application; Harold Mesa, Internetworking; Raymond Tolnai, Ornamental Iron Design and Fabrication; Allison Maloney, Nail Care; Greg Pellegrini, Kevin Reilly, Albert Keys and Keith Neuschwanter, Team Works.
Bronze medals were awarded to Jason Blake and Heather Wilson, 3D Visualization and Animation; RJ Henderson, Diesel Equipment Technology; Lauren D’Amelio, Esthetics; Chris Bryson, Action Skills; Mehak Khajuria, Computer Maintenance; Edwin Rivera and Willy Alvarez, Custom Automotive Painting.
