Morris County School of Technology Wins 22 Medals at Skills USA Event
Denville, NJ (5/5/08) – Students from the Morris County School of Technology won 22 medals during the NJ Skills USA State Championship Competition, which was held on Saturday May 3rd in Somerset. The school sent 53 high school students to the event, which was a showcase for career and technical education students across the state.
During the competition, students worked against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations like electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts. All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, and test competencies are set by industry. Gold Medals were awarded to Mark Snowden, Building and Grounds Maintenance; Harold Mesa, Internet Working; Jennifer Mullarney, Pre-School teaching Assistant; Jeremiah Miller and Cuiseppi Sorisi, Team Skills Demonstration; and Alex Claas and Charlie Stevens, Television Video Production. Five gold medal winners will go on to represent New Jersey at the Skills USA National Competition held in Kansas City, MO the last week of June. Silver medals were awarded to Roseanne Kautz and Ian Rolston, 3-D Visualization; Tommy Fiore, Diesel Equipment Technology; and Xiomara Munoz, Aida Rodriquez and Victoria De Valve, Tech Prep Showcase Demo. Bronze medals were awarded to Jessica Rolstan, Customer Service; Karen Adrada, Catherine Cuevas, Kristen Griffen, Danielle Monahan, Amy Nussbaum, Denise Ortega and Clare Pelligrini, Open Closing Ceremonies; and German Liranzo, Technical Drafting.
