HYPERSTUDIO HOLOCAUST PROJECT
(Approximate Time: Two Week Project)
Objectives: Students will research select roles people had who were
involved, either directly or indirectly, with the Holocaust; using digital information acquired from the computer lab and the internet as a resource. The information that is collected will be applied by creating a hyperstudio project that illustrates journal entries of the parties involved. (6.2-6.9, Standards may vary depending upon the topic(s) researched)
Materials: Use of the computer lab and the internet, related web sites (both
teacher and student selected, select text materials, applicable student handouts and rubric, and a chalkboard or overhead projector.
Procedure:
1.Prior to using the computer lab and allowing students to begin their research, review with the class the concept(s) of witness, bystander, and active participant.
2.Distribute to students applicable handouts and review the directions/options with them:
Choose one of the following roles:
· Holocaust victim or prisoner
· German soldier
· A businessman who has profited under the Nazi regime
· Prison guard at a concentration camp
· Citizen of Denmark (Actively participated in helping the Jews)
· A child that was part of the Kinder Transport (being safely transported to Britain)
· A European farmer in an occupied territory
· A Righteous Gentile (a Christian that actively helped hide, save, or transport the Jews)
· A passenger on the St.Louis (the ship carried Jewish refugees that was denied entry into America)
· The liberator of a camp (a member/soldier of the Allied forces)
· A Capo, or a Jew working for the Nazis in a camp
3.An attempt should be made to have students not work on the same topic (this may be mandatory or simply advised ). A teacher approved topic that is not on the list may also be appropriate.
4.The rubric for the project should be distributed and discussed as well. The use of interim assessments may be used at select points from the inception to the completion of the project.
Closure: A daily overview of a timeline highlighting what the class(es) should have already completed, and the activities of future class periods.
Evaluation: Students should complete all interim assessments as outlined
by the instructor. Ultimately the hyperstudio slide presentation will be shared with the entire class students will be assessed using the rubric that accompanied the assignment.

HOLOCAUST HYPERSTUDIO SLIDE PRESENTATION
Please read the following directions thoroughly, including the interim assessment timeline and the rubric.
1.Select the partner or partners you wish to work with for the duration of this project (2-3 people per group!). Take into consideration that a substantial amount of class time will be used to complete this assignment, and the grades you receive will reflect several weeks worth of work the grades will greatly impact your overall average for the marking period.

3.Using the internet and select text as a resource, you will create a journal using a hyperstudio slide show highlighting the life of your select persona. The following criteria applies:
· There must be a Title Page
· There must be an Introduction Page (this is a brief overview of who your person was, and what their role was in the Holocaust)
· Besides the Title and Introduction (2 pages), you must also have an additional 10 pages MINIMUM (12 pages total this is a minimum requirement)!
· A minimum of 5 graphic, or picture slides must be included it is your choice whether you want text on these pages or simply an image
4.The timeline that follows indicates the day and the progress/work that should be completed on your project; your work will be checked and assessed accordingly.
