Introduction:
Boy are you in trouble!!! There you are, swimming along, minding
your own business, and the next thing you know you are face to face with a shark!
He looks quite happy to see you...because he's hungry! If you don't want to
be the main course at dinner, you better figure out a way to convince "Sharky"
that you're not on the menu!

Task:
After learning about different types of sharks and how they live,
you will create a short story about meeting a shark. You will need to convince
the shark why you would not make a good meal and offer the shark an alternate
menu option.

Procedure:
In order to talk your way (Did I mention that you can talk to
sharks?) out of being the "catch of the day" at "Sharky's Diner",
you will need to find out all you can about sharks and how they live. Would
you really be the best meal for this shark? If not, you better let him know
that! Use the Internet sites listed in the Resource section of this WebQuest
to strengthen your argument for not being eaten. You should find information
on the following topics:
a. Habitat info
b. Normal diet
c. Samples of items discovered from stomachs of sharks (Did the shark eat these
things by mistake?)
d. Different types of sharks
e. View live sharks through a shark cam.
After completing your research, you will write a short story
about your adventure. Remember to include literary
elements such as setting, plot, etc. Be creative! Don't forget, your life
depends on it!

Conclusion
After completing this WebQuest, you should have a better understanding
of sharks and how they live. We must all remember that we share this planet
with many other species. The ocean is their "backyard". Do you think
that sharks might be confused finding "strangers" in their "backyards"?
What would you do if you found a shark in YOURS???
