A joint endeavor between Morris County Vocational School District and Butler High School The Academy for Law and Public Safety, located at Butler High School, is a highly focused full-time four year high school program for students entering the 9th grade. Studies are concentrated in Law, Criminal Justice, Forensic Science with laboratory, Law Enforcement, Bio– Terrorism, Home Land Defense, International Studies, Public Affairs and Humanities. This limited enrollment program is offered in a rigorous academic environment where students participate in specialized academy courses. Students are also fully integrated in the academic, athletic and co-curricular activities of Butler High School. Students participate in mentorship in their junior year and technical internship in their senior year with law, law enforcement, government and judicial business partners. Students may earn certifications in CPR, First Aid, and FEMA. Students participate in mentorship during their junior year, and internships in area agencies of law enforcement, government, and judicial business partners their senior year. Collaborative partners include the Morris County prosecutor’s office, Morris County Police and Fire Academy, Butler Police Department, County College of Morris, FBI, and the United Nations. Career pathways for students include criminal justice studies, law, federal, state, county and municipal law enforcement, fire service, government, bio-terrorism, homeland defense, international studies, public affairs, and humanities. Seniors, if qualified, may select the 12th grade option to attend the County College of Morris.
