BA in English Secondary Education Certification
Mrs. Cathy Mohrle
My name is Cathy Mohrle. I grew up in Rockaway, NJ, and am a Morris Knolls High School graduate. I earned my English Education degree from the University of Delaware. I am currently pursuing my master's degree at Drew University (MLitt). I have been teaching high school English for twelve years and I am extremely proud to be a staff member here at MCST. I have taught English I, II, III, Public Speaking, and Creative Writing.
Welcome, Sophomores!
You have one year under your belt here at MCST. I'm sure you learned a lot last year, and you are looking forward to continuing your journey toward graduation! Sophomore year is very important as college admissions teams will be looking at your grades from this year (Junior year too) to determine your success at their institution. With that said, it is crucial for you to stay focused and keep your grades up.
This year we will study a selection of classic and contemporary novels, Shakespearean drama, nonfiction, and poetry. This year's study aims to examine the relationship between yourself and society. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing your skills in analytical reading, public speaking, and research. Furthermore, you will be analyzing and implementing persuasive writing strategies by participating in various group discussions and activities.
My ultimate goal for you is autonomy. I want all of my students to be PROACTIVE LEARNERS. This is your high school experience--make the most of it!
I look forward to working with you.
