World Language Department
The world language department believes that students who are able to communicate in another language have a distinct advantage when opportunities arise for them to explore and participate in various cultures within today’s global community. Breaking down the language barrier and overcoming fears of communicating in a new language are the focal points of our goal.
The curriculum emphasizes the need for cross cultural sharing as students develop competency in the different areas of language acquisition: listening and reading comprehension, speaking, and writing.
Our department strives to help our students effectively maneuver technology and find the best communicative tools and resources available to help foster their overall language-learning. Our ultimate goal for our students is that they respond appropriately to cultural norms and become comfortable with the new language so as to achieve effective independent communication.
