Officer Sandman
I began my career in law enforcement in 2001 when I was hired by the Denville Township Police Department upon my graduation from the Morris County Police Academy. In May of 2019, I was assigned as the new School Resource Officer (SRO) of the Morris County School of Technology.
As the SRO, my primary duties are:
1. the implementation of safety and security protocols and procedures to ensure that the school is a safe place to learn. This includes instructing staff and students in the advanced lockdown procedure known as the A.L.I.C.E. program
2. as an educator working as a special guest to discuss topics that relate to law enforcement such as driving safety, drug abuse, and law,
3. as an informal mentor and counselor by being a resource to students, parents, and staff,
4. and as law enforcement handling calls for service at the school and investigating any potential crime.
I am looking forward to being a mentor and positive role model for the students. I maintain an open-door policy and I encourage students, staff, and parents to reach out to me whenever a need arises. My focus at the school is to always create positive relationships between students and law enforcement while maintaining a safe and secure environment for learning.
