The Cosmetology program blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on skill development essential for mastering hair, skin, and nail care. Students develop expertise in applying concepts from chemistry, anatomy, and physical science to practical cosmetology while exploring industry standards, safety protocols, and client service excellence through both classroom instruction and practical application.

Morris County high school students in 10th grade may apply for their 11th and 12th-grade year.

Mrs. Brigida Alonzo

Cosmetology

Mrs. Alonzo has been a part of the Cosmetology industry for over 30 years. She began teaching in 2012 and joined MCST in 2018. Mrs. Alonzo enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for the industry with future Cosmetologists. She finds it extremely rewarding to participate in assisting students to develop the skills needed to become successful.

Ms. Farnese

Ms. Farnese has been a licensed Cosmetologist for 20 years and is a proud completer of the  MCST Share-Time program. Her passion for teaching and the Cosmetology industry comes with great reward as it provides the opportunity to inspire future professionals to learn new skills and navigate an industry that is exciting to start at such a young age. In her 3 short years of teaching, proud moments include observing student growth, licensure, employment, client retention,  and last but not least, having students come back to teach classes! If she is not working on clients during her time off, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her Olde English bulldog, Rudy.

Ms. Kathleen Marshall

Ms. Marshall has been teaching cosmetology for over 10 years and proudly brings to the classroom over 30 years of experience in the beauty industry.

Cosmetology and related fields have been a lifelong passion for Ms. Marshall.  She enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience to guide students toward success in their chosen careers.

Overview of Program


Students attend the following sessions for this Share Time program

Year 1 Students: Morning Session 8:00-10:40 am
Year 2 Students: Afternoon Session 12:10-2:50 pm


Students earn: 20 Career and Technical Education credits per school year

The program emphasizes authentic industry methodology through direct application of theoretical concepts to real-world cosmetology services, preparing students for New Jersey state licensure requirements.

The program requires individuals who possess precise fine motor skills, strong time management abilities, and commitment to completing the state-mandated 1,000 hours of classroom instruction.
