MCST Student Signs Letter of Intent to Play Soccer at Saint Joseph's University!

Emily Cuccio signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. SJU is a Division 1 program that competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Emily Cuccio

Since her freshmen year, Emily has been a key player on the girls’ varsity soccer team. She immediately emerged as a leader through her standout play in goal. Emily’s excellent positional awareness, communication, and distribution allowed her to serve as the quintessential “sweeper-keeper.” This past season, Emily marshaled a defense that tallied 16 shutouts and did not give up a single goal en route to the state sectional finals, where the team ultimately fell on penalty kicks, two of which Emily saved in the shootout.

Emily played a critical role as the girls soccer team captured the NJAC Freedom Division in their first year in the conference, and also took home the soccer program's first NJTAC Tournament Championship. Along the way they amassed a 21-3 record, and finished the season ranked 5th in the NJAC (which is comprised of 37 girls soccer teams) and 8th in the state for Group II.

Emily is expecting to challenge for the starting spot at SJU this fall. Congratulations, Emily, and thank you for your exceptional contributions to the MCST soccer program!
