Class of 2020 Letter to Students and Parents/Guardians Pick Up Cap & Gown Process

Tuesday, May 12, 2020

Dear Denville Campus Seniors and Parents/Guardians,

On Friday, May 8, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy released instructions regarding graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020. As per the Executive Order, school districts are to create virtual celebrations and we’ve begun this process. More specific information regarding the uploading of content will be shared with families on or before Monday, May 18th via an email from me.

We must distribute caps, gowns and other regalia this Thursday, May 14th and Friday, May 15th in our Morris County School of Technology parking lot. Seniors or parents/guardians will remain in their cars following social distancing guidelines. Pick up will be divided into two sessions each day to accommodate all student schedules. For example, Susan Adams, can pick up her cap and gown either Thursday or Friday morning between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

Administration and Security will be on hand to direct you; we will be wearing PPE. We respectfully request that you do the same.

Thursday, May 14th - 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. students with last names beginning A - K

11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. students with last names beginning L- Z

Friday, May 15th -      8:00 a.m. to 11:30.a.m. students with last names beginning A - K

11:30 a.m. to 3:00.p.m. students with last names beginning L- Z

While we are looking forward to seeing you, we please need everyone to follow social distancing guidelines. Please do not leave your car or attempt to congregate on campus. Your health and safety is of the utmost importance to us.

This memo and future correspondence regarding graduation can also be found on the front page of our district website, see “scrolling announcements,” and in the COVID-19 tab.

If you have any questions or concerns specific to the process outlined here, please email Penny Manser at

Stay healthy and safe!
