Eagle Scout’s Vision Blossoms at Morris County School of Technology
Ashwin Vaithiyalingam, a student at the Morris County School of Technology in the Academy for Computer & Information Sciences, and an accomplished Eagle Scout, has achieved a remarkable milestone by spearheading his service project to benefit his high school.
This young leader’s commitment to his community and passion for environmental sustainability has led to the creation of an innovative interactive garden, providing a space for relaxation and outdoor learning.
Ashwin embarked on this ambitious endeavor as part of his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America program. His vision was to create a calm and positive environment with a zen garden.
This project involved planning, coordination, and much effort from the initial concept to the final installation. Ashwin demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and successfully rallied a team of volunteers, to bring his vision to life.
The garden has an array of elements including pollinator plants to attract bees and butterflies, perennial plants, murals, pathways, and other elements. From a tranquil reading area to an outdoor learning space, this garden showcases Ashwin’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
“We are proud of Ashwin’s achievement as an Eagle Scout and his exceptional service project, said Lynne Lynne M. Jackson, Principal of High School (2-year) Programs. This is an example of the positive impact that young leaders can have on their communities.”
