Computers in Art 1
Interested in learning about how to use a computer to create art? In this introductory course you'll enjoy learning the basics of photo retouching, design and animation!
Course Description:
Students in Computers in Arts 1 are exposed to the foundations of composition, illustration and graphic design. They will explore fundamentals of drawing and illustration, concept development, character design, and basic animation. In addition to traditional media, they will be introduced to leading graphic design software programs. They will learn real world skills in the design process, presenting their artwork, and portfolio development.
Course Objectives:
- Students will understand the appropriate vocabulary associated with using the computer and its technology.
- Develop competency and technical skills when using drawing and digital compositing tools
- Demonstrate originality, including personal opinion, thoughts and ideas, and artistic expression in artwork
- Transform drawings using rasterize and vector software
- Experiment with color options, palette changes, gradient tones and mixing.
- Manipulate options such as stretch, rotate, bend and perspective.
- Produce an image by using more than one program.
- Be aware of different saving formats (GIFF, JPEG, PSD etc.)
- Develop competency utilizing video input to incorporate video images into student artwork.
- Demonstrate knowledge of how artists and artistic works can potentially connect with either political, social, cultural, and historical events.
Please note: no computer software experience is necessary to take this class.
